The first public performance of the Cossack ensemble "Varta" took place in September 2017. Regular performances and tours brought the success and recognition to the group not only among the fans of Cossack and folk music in Ukraine but also abroad. The band consists of six professional musicians performing both instrumental and vocal compositions with equal skill and giving preference to Cossack songs which reflect the centuries-old history of the Ukrainian Cossacks and the fate of Ukrainian people with extreme force and beauty.
The group’s repertoire includes patriotic and march songs of the Ukrainian Cossacks, Cossack ballads as well as deeply lyric tunes and comic songs. Virtuosic proficiency in playing numerous musical instruments (button accordion, kobza, domra, violin, a variety of pipes and percussion instruments) gives this team an original and bright colour. The polyphony of male voices, their power, intensity and intertwining, as well as voice intonation enchant an audience from the very first chords of any song.
On their first trip to Finland in the spring of 2019 musicians offer their concert program, consisting of the most popular songs of Ukrainian Cossacks. And we can say with certainty that the Cossack show performed by the ensemble, where there is always a unique live sound, humor and cheerful Cossack character, will stay in the memory of the audience for a long time.
