Ukrainian dance and song group "Gutsulia" is a professional artistic group founded in already distant now 1939 in the city of Stanislav (now Ivano-Frankivsk), Gutsul region of Western Ukraine. Over the years the group has performed more than 12000 concerts enjoying a great success both in Ukraine and far abroad. It was well-received by the audiences in Canada, Italy, Greece, Poland, Austria, France, Germany and other countries.
The group’s repertoire is extremely diverse however its core is the Ukrainian folk dance. The concert program presents both old and modern dances representing various parts of Ukraine. It goes without saying that the famous Cossack dance – a part of the Ukrainian folk culture – is also included in the program.
Choreography is surprisingly diverse, not only in technique, but even the mood of each subsequent number differs from the preceding one. Breath taking Bukovyna and Volyn dances step forward to change the fighting spirit and trickery of Cossack competitions. Whereas gliding, synchronized and precise movements in lyrical women's dance compositions reflecting the traditions of Central and Eastern Ukraine give way to quick swirl and fiery temperament of the Carpathian dances. Each dance is another story with tremendous number of fantastic tricks perfected to the last detail and luxurious costumes. The costumes is a totally different topic in general. Unique, bright, colourful Ukrainian costumes which are the integral part of the dance group. It literally catches your breath when you face the variety of colors, patterns, Ukrainian costumes from all regions represented in the dances.
A bright addition to the group’s dancing program is the performance of the singer – Larysa Borysenko whose repertoire includes famous Ukrainian songs. Larysa Borysenko is first of all a creative personality and professional singer. Her mastery motivates people to the understanding of real art and his charming voice draws crowds to standing ovations for his unforgettable performance.
Bright and expressive movements, virtuoso jumps, lightning-fast rotation of the dancing dynamics – all this is a unique blend of colour, energy and artistry which the Ukrainian dance and song group “Gutsulia” will present the Finnish audience in winter 2024.
